About Me
Melissa Tran BSc Hons Physiotherapy, MCSP, REPs
Hello, I am Melissa Tran and I help people move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free.
My journey into physiotherapy was personal and, frankly frustrating. After the birth of my eldest child, I developed chronic lower back pain that lingered for seven long years. I saw sixteen different professionals across London, from orthopaedic consultants to physiotherapists and osteopaths hoping someone could help. But despite all the appointments, nothing truly worked.
The turning point came at a local gym. I’d gone in desperate to ease my pain and address postnatal weight gain. The trainer handed me a generic workout plan, one clearly meant for anyone and everyone. It didn’t take into account my pain, my history or my goals. Unsurprisingly, it only made things worse.
That experience lit a fire in me. I realised the only way to truly take control of my health and help others like me was to get properly trained.
Over the next four years, I became a qualified Personal Trainer and a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist. I started working with people experiencing common issues like back pain and knee pain, and quickly saw how much difference tailored care could make. Word spread, and I built up a loyal client base who valued not just results, but the way I worked with them.
Still, I wanted to do more. Many clients came to me with more complex physio needs, and I knew I could serve them better with deeper clinical knowledge. So I went back to university to train as a Physiotherapist and training in Acupuncture, inspired by my roots.
I was born and raised in Asia where traditional Chinese medicine is a first line of treatment. Growing up, I watched how acupuncture and herbal medicine were used to relieve pain, treat illness, and restore balance long before popping a pill was even an option. That early exposure shaped my belief in a more holistic approach to pain management and recovery.
During my physiotherapy degree, some lecturers insisted that acupuncture and massage had little or no effect. But I had experienced their benefits first-hand , and so had my clients.
While research often studies just one intervention in isolation, real recovery usually needs a blend of approaches. The human body is a complex, and nothing works in isolation - our muscles, joints, and other systems all work together.
This is the foundation of how I work. I combine physiotherapy, acupuncture, sports massage, and strength-based personal training to create truly individual care plans. I look at the full picture, not just the symptoms. I believe in treating the root cause, not chasing the pain around the body.
After nearly twenty five years in the health and fitness industry, I’ve worked with everyone from corporate professionals to new mums, from everyday gym-goers to professional athletes. My patients often call me their “one-stop-shop” and “a magician”, when it comes to fixing their pain and helping them feel like themselves again.
Where I work…
I currently offer physiotherapy, acupuncture, and sports massages at The London Natural Health Centre near Holborn. If you are looking for personal training or sports specific strength and conditioning, I coach from a pricvate gym just 10 minutes away near Farringdon. Both locations are easily accessible and right in the heart of central London.
If you’re struggling with pain, recovering from surgery or an injury, or simply want to feel stronger and move better, I’d love to help.
